Changelog

Every release, on the record.

What changed in the software on PHNTM One, release by release. Nothing updates on its own: a unit keeps the version it has until you apply an update, and an update rolls back if the self-test fails.

Notes, clearer boundaries, sturdier plumbing

Accepted development build

October 7, 2026 · source revision 4f1c5de

The fancy part is the touchscreen. The less fancy part is making sure a paused reminder stays paused. Both need attention.

  • Notes: typed thoughts and local dictation, with Clean up, Develop idea and Project checkpoint. Your original stays separate from the reviewed draft.
  • Optional Hello Phantom: local English wake detection starts off. Wait for Listening, then ask a general question. This temporary conversation does not retrieve personal memory or documents.
  • Reminders: fixes preserve pause state, logical recurrence through timezone changes and pending delivery. Clock readiness still matters; an offline cold power loss can leave the time unknown.
  • Connected services: email-send approval checks and phone credential handling received targeted repairs. Private mode now explains the separate network paths of connected services more clearly.
  • Documents and recovery: bounded PDF/OCR resource handling, earlier passage limits and stronger recovery checks. Answer bookkeeping no longer treats certain storage/history failures as successful answers.

These are accepted development changes, not a promise of perfect reliability or a claim that an already shipped unit updated itself. Response-time work continues. Read the current manual and check feature status.

Autonomy

Earlier build

September 11, 2026 · updated through September 25

  • Autonomous mode, the third brain choice: Claude on your own key, acting from your own Telegram on reminders, email and Google Calendar.
  • Repairs with an undo. A drifted configuration file or a mismatched memory or conversation search index is repaired as a transaction, kept only if every check passes, and put back exactly if not.
  • Keeps score of every fix. Every incident and repair outcome is recorded; where more than one allowed fix exists, a fault that keeps coming back can get the one with the better record first. Early: every unit starts with no evidence.
  • Watches for trouble coming, like a disk filling up or memory creeping, and may warn you. Those parts only watch and record.
  • Security, September 25: every email send and calendar change waits for your yes and is bound to exactly what you approved; a forwarded message can never approve; only your own private Telegram chat can ask it to act; turning on a cloud mode from a phone needs your device password, and so does exporting or restoring your data; each installed phone app gets its own key that you can revoke.
0.7.3

Audit release

September 8, 2026

  • The boot self-test now requires the assistant to actually answer before an update is accepted.
  • Clearer explanations when a deletion fails, privacy mode confirmed before settings report saved, and reminder retries preserved.
  • A full audit pass and its evidence record, before the first production batch.
0.7.2

Safer updates

September 6, 2026

  • Updates refuse to move a unit back to an older release, fail safely, and clean up after themselves.
  • A stated policy for operating-system security updates.
0.7.1

Sealed releases

September 5, 2026

  • Signed releases carry every dependency they need, in a locked Python environment.
  • Backups carry no trust tokens, and pairing is per phone.
  • The SSH server policy is verified.
0.7.0

Production hardening

September 5, 2026

  • A deep audit across eight areas after the first unit shipped, and the manufacturing chain for building units by hand.
  • An update that was cut off halfway is caught at the next boot.
0.6

Daily use

September 2–3, 2026 · 0.6.9 shipped on the reviewer unit, September 4

  • Recurring reminders, the phone as a full owner interface, and a cleaner face.
  • Fixes from the reviewer-unit audit: time zones, forgetting and corrections, document indexing that resumes, an honest answer when no passage matches, and plain truth about the microphone.
0.5

Never forget

September 2, 2026

  • Semantic search across your whole conversation history, and an owner command line.
0.4

Permanence and PHNTM Drop

September 2, 2026

  • Conversation history kept by default, with retention you control.
  • PHNTM Drop: send files to the device over your own network.
0.3

  • Resting Face, Local Mode, Watch the Wire, Take Everything, Memory Constellation and Closing Veil.
0.2

Follow-Through

September 2, 2026

  • Open loops: it keeps track of what you said you'd do, and never makes up tasks.
0.1
