Updates, Take Everything and factory reset
Updates: nothing changes underneath you
Shipped units have no update channel. Nothing polls, nothing phones home, and there are no automatic OS updates. The Debian update timers are off on purpose. Updates are owner-initiated: a documented local procedure applies a build you provide, runs the boot self-test, and rolls itself back automatically if the self-test fails.
Take Everything
- Plug a USB stick into the device.
- In System, tap Take everything with you.
- It writes a portable copy of your memories, reminders (as a calendar file), open loops, the documents you gave it, your preferences and your conversation history, with a manifest and checksums.
Your device's secrets (keys, pairing, passwords) never go on the stick. The copy is only marked complete once every file is written and verified, so a stick pulled out early is never mistaken for a finished one.
Factory reset
Over SSH or in the device's Terminal:
sudo ~phntm/phntm-one/scripts/factory_reset.sh --yes-erase-everything
This wipes memories, conversations, pairing, settings and API keys, and the setup wizard owns the next boot. Every file of owner state is deleted, and the databases and index are removed.
To be precise: it isn't a forensic secure-erase of the flash. Flash storage may retain recoverable fragments. If you are transferring the unit and need secure storage retirement, contact support.
Email support@phntmcore.com with your serial (it's on the back of the business card). You get the person who built your unit, not a queue.
